3 Hikes to Kick Off Your September in the Smokies

It’s almost Autumn in the Smokies! That means it’s time to break out the flannels, pack some apple cider for your hikes, and head to the Smokies. To help you pick the perfect fall hike, here are three of our favorites.
-
Andrew’s Bald
This easy hike is perfect for a September outing. It’s one of the highest bald’s in the Smoky Mountain park and has some gorgeous mountain views. If you’re new to the Smokies, you should know that the fall foliage in the park is stunning and definitely worth the trip.
-
Alum Cave
Alum Cave does not only have a beautiful view of the foliage at the end, but also the entire way up to the top. You’ll enjoy a peaceful hike through the trees, passed bubbling creeks, and through rock formations. This trail is five miles long and is considered a moderate trail, although hikers should be aware that there are some slippery spots.
-
Chimney Tops Trail
Chimney Tops is a difficult trail to blaze, but it is more than worth the hike! After hiking the steep 3.6 mile long trail you’ll reach the colorful, panoramic views at the top. Just make sure to not venture out onto the rocks as they’re currently closed. Along the way, keep an eye out for Road Prong Creek, which you will cross several times throughout your journey.
No matter the trail you hike for your fall adventure, you’ll need a spot to rest your head at night. Look no further than Smoky Mountain Chalet Rentals. With many cabins to choose from, they have everything you need and more. Whether you’re looking for a hot tub, easy access to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, or a short drive from the park, they have it all!
