1. Hike to a Waterfall

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is home to a number of scenic trails that lead to waterfalls. We love waterfall hikes because there is something to look forward to at the end of your journey! Best of all, many of the waterfall trails are fairly short, so you don’t have to be a great athlete to complete the hike. Here are some of the most popular hikes with waterfalls in the Smokies:

2. Soak Up the Views in a Hot TubHot tub on the deck of the Stress Relief cabin in Gatlinburg.

Who says outdoor activities require working up a sweat? Kicking back in the hot tub on your cabin’s deck is one of the best ways to get some fresh air. Vacations are all about rest and relaxation, and we can’t think of anything more soothing than a soak in the tub. Many of our mountain cabins in Gatlinburg come with breathtaking views of the Smokies, so you can lean back and let the jets massage you as you take in the spectacular vistas. The mountains are gorgeous throughout the year, but they are particularly stunning in the fall months, when the leaves erupt with brilliant shades of orange, yellow, and red.

3. Go Horseback Riding

Gatlinburg is home to a number of riding stables where you can take guided trail rides through the mountains. A horseback ride is a great way see the area’s natural beauty from a whole new vantage point. Virtually all of the stables have horses who know the trails like the back of their hooves, so no prior riding experience is necessary. If you are a bit uneasy about riding a horse yourself, you can enjoy a guided horse-drawn carriage ride through the national park’s most visited valley with Cades Cove Riding Stables.
